FAQs

How much will this cost?

My standard rate is $140 for the first session and $120 for every session after that. Sessions are 50-55 minutes long. I currently do not have any sliding scale spots available, but for some clients, attending bi-weekly instead of every week is appropriate and could help offset some of the cost of sessions.

Do you do online sessions?

Yes! I use the SimplePractice telehealth platform. It’s completely HIPAA-compliant and extremely user-friendly. No apps or programs to download on your computer. Just follow the link sent to your email. (There is an app if you want to join sessions from your phone but it is still very user-friendly.)

How do I reach you?

The easiest way to reach me is by emailing or using the form on my contact page. I am typically with clients during the day and unable to answer my phone or return voicemails. I typically respond to emails within 48 hours, except on holidays.

Do you take insurance?

Yes! I accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, and Aetna plans. Each plan is different so in order to let you know actual cost per session, I will need to see your insurance card and look up, or call to verify, your specific benefits. I can accept Flexible Spending Account/Health Savings Account cards as well.

What are your office hours?

My office hours are by appointment only. I schedule my first session at 9 am and start my last session at 4 pm. I see clients Monday through Friday. If I don’t have clients scheduled, I am typically not in my office, so walk-ins or same-day appointments are not available.

Are you doing in-person sessions?

Yes! I know not being able to be face-to-face with other human beings has made the last few years even more stressful than they already were. For those who are comfortable, my office is open to you.

Will anyone know I’m seeing you?

Only if you want to tell them! Therapy is confidential, which means I can’t tell anyone that you are or aren’t a client. Including a spouse or parent (As long as you’re over 18, and pending a few specific circumstances).

Will you prescribe me medications?

No, I am not a medical doctor. Many clients find medication helpful. Therapy can be helpful on its own as well. Your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist can evaluate you for medications, if needed. If you are already taking medication, I am happy to coordinate care with your doctor as needed.

Do you offer supervision for LPC-Associates?

Yes! I am a licensed LPC-Supervisor and am taking on new Associates. Please use the contact form to reach me and let’s chat!

No Surprises Act and Good Faith Estimate Information

According to the new “No Surprises Act” you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance, or who are choosing to not use their insurance, an estimate of their expected charges for medical services.

You have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during your treatment with them. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

When a client chooses to begin therapy with me, cost per session is discussed up front. We settle the payment for each session at the end of that session. You will never receive a bill from me after the fact. The only other costs that could be incurred are a no-show/late cancellation fee (a flat rate of $75), or fees for letter-writing or court-related tasks or appearances (for which fees are outlined in your initial paperwork). My clients are always involved in determining the frequency and duration of their counseling relationship with me and free to adjust or terminate services at any time they choose. Therefore, my clients should never be surprised by a charge from me. If you have further questions about this, or would like a written Good Faith Estimate, please feel free to discuss it with me at any time and/or request one.
